James originally joined Pierce Conservation District as an AmeriCorps member in 2019 with experience in riparian restoration and water quality testing. He then worked for the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department as an Environmental Technician, administering site visits around Pierce County. Later, he worked with the Puget Sound Clean Air agency, performing inspections throughout the Puget Sound. In 2024, James returned to the District after several years of leading Whittier Park’s Habitat Stewardship's volunteer base. When not on the clock, James is either attending community building events or enjoying the freedom of nature’s gifts.
